The Council of Industry has been the manufacturer’s association for the Hudson
Valley since 1910. We are a privately funded not-for-profit organization, whose
mission is to promote the success of our member firms and their employees,
and through them contribute to the success of the Hudson Valley Community.

Facts about N. Y. State  Manufacturing and Exporting


  • New York's export shipments of merchandise in 2011 totaled $82.9 billion.
  • In 2009, the metropolitan area of Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown exported $2.2 billion in merchandise.  In 2005 that figure was $1.6 billion.
  • Manufactured exports support 21 percent of New York’s manufacturing jobs.
  • In 2009 94 percent of New York exporters were small businesses.
